PATSY STONE

Fuck Nationality

PATSY STONE have been kicking it around the Berlin punk scene in one way or another since 2008, their stickers a constant presence on Berlin lampposts and club walls, but it’s only since 2016 that this present constellation, of Patsy on guitar and vocals, Jörki on bass, and Daniel on drums, has started to gain momentum and develop into the perfect combination.

„Fuck Nationality“ is engineered and mixed by Jaunfe Rehm, and is the perfect intro to the band and a good taste of what to expect from the upcoming album to be released this fall. The EP kicks your teeth in right from the opening chords of „The girls song“, feels like an invitation to a night of hook-rich punk enjoyment.

Patsy’s vocals, strong and throaty with a tribulated undertone, immediately bring to mind the gut-scorching vocals of Thalia Zedek (LIVE SKULL, UZI, COME) and Kristin Hersh of 50 FT WAVE.

„I’m sick of my country,“ Patsy sings with apparent disgust and resignation in „Nationality“ – just what is nationality good for? The lyrics are penetratingly political, hammered home by well-crafted riffs.

„On your own“ reminded me of SOCIAL DISTORTION, just something reassuring about those solid walls of power chords roaring. By the time „Train“ pounds in, the band has ratcheted up the speed and dynamic and given you a good, representative slice of what they have to offer.

And what they have to offer, is this: uncompromising power punk with promise. Unforgettable riffs that come back to haunt you, songs that stay with you and feed your brain, PATSY STONE is definitely a band I want more of.

They speak a language every punk on the planet can understand no matter what shred they’re into. So hike up your boots, pull up your straps and check them out for sure.
