O.k., als das Thema GUITAR WOLF-Interview erstmalig zur Sprache kam, wurde von einigen Seiten die Befürchtung geäußert, die ganze Sache könne aufgrund eventuell vorhandener Sprachbarrieren möglicherweise recht einsilbig verlaufen. Noch dazu sollte der Gedankenaustausch per Internet, dem weltumspannenden kommunikativen Tummelplatz für Prokuristen und Audifahrer, vollzogen werden, wodurch sämtliche Ansätze eines kritischen, investigativen Nachhakungsjournalismus von vornherein im Keim erstickt wurden. Nun, sämtliche Befürchtungen sollten sich letztendlich als zutreffend herausstellen. Die drei Schlitzaugen können um's Verrecken kein Englisch. Na und? Wieso sollten sie auch? Schließlich sind GUITAR WOLF Japaner. Jeder einzelne Japaner auf diesem Planeten kann deinen und meinen Arsch innerhalb von zwei Minuten fünfmal kaufen und wieder verkaufen, da kann einen die Lingo globaler Minoritäten ruhig ´nen feuchten Dreck interessieren. Außerdem würde die Perfektionierung der Interviewtechnik die drei Tokioter nur von ihrem wesentlichen Lebensinhalt ablenken, der da lautet: SHAKE YER SUSHIMAKER !!! Die Antworten von Seiji & Co. ins Deutsche zu übersetzen, hätte nicht allzuviel Sinn gemacht, da dies höchstens die Sinnentleerung einiger ziemlich brillanter Antworten nach sich gezogen hätte. Und für die zwischen all dem Lederjacken-/Lock´n´Loll-Getue immer wieder hervorstechende asiatische Höflichkeit muß man die Jungs einfach gern haben. Falls also der Eindruck entstehen sollte, hier würde sich über mangelnde Englischkenntnisse lustig gemacht: genau das Gegenteil ist der Fall! Hey, wenn deine Band sich etwas mehr auf die Musik anstatt auf Interviews für käsige Fanzines konzentrieren würde, vielleicht wäret ihr dann so gut wie GUITAR WOLF. Ich wage das allerdings zu bezweifeln. In diesem Sinne: GIT RAGIN' WITH THE ASIAN PERSUASION!!!

How did you guys initially hook up with Eric Oblivians Goner-Label?

He caught me transforming into wolf.

Is it true that GUITAR WOLF started out playing only LINK WRAY-covers?

Punk rock, LINK WRAY and space rock.

How did the contact to Matador Records come about and what have your experiences been so far, being the only "punk" band on the label?

Our Japan label owner talked made happen, but before didn't know, but satisfied now.

How did you score that cameo appearance in J. Michael McCarthy's "Sore Losers" movie? Did you enjoy being in a film?

We played leather aliens from Leather Planet. We shooting lazer beam scene, very interesting.

Now that Fifi is in THE TWEEZERS, a decidedly more pop outfit, do you think Japan will be flooded by a tidal wave of power pop bands?

Of course Fifi band TWEEZERS and FIRESTARTERS, Fink band RODYOS great, but don't know power pop well.

Is Toru still in THE TOMBOYS together with Fink and the guys from EVIL HOODOO?

You know well. That band just once then finish. Live was great.

Did you enjoy touring North America? I read that when you played Vancouver for the first time, Seiji was on stage while Yoshiko was in the corner laughing for the entire show.

Of course, enjoyed. Especially like Canada, Chicago, Detroit, Seattle great.

What did it mean to you to record at Wedgewood Recording Studios? (ziemlich bekanntes Aufnahmestudio in Seattle)

You know a lot, again. Never in ACCEL 4. Some misunderstand.

Do you think the first Garageshock Festival helped you guys break it big in the U.S. and eventually made you more popular over there than in your own country?

Of course, yes think so.

Seiji, why do you always cut yourself up on stage?

Not going crazy, just rock basic raw.

Tell me about that incident in Memphis where you took the stage and broke that guy´s guitar strings.

With Oblivian Eric went Beer Street to see blues, and then was made to play black bluesman guitar. Beginning play polite, then next realized play crazy no strings.

Why do you always blow up amps and break guitars?

Like high place, and of course don't like break guitar. (Ich vermute einfach mal, daß "like high place" das japanische Heinrich Lübke-Äquivalent zu "as I mentioned before" ist.)

Do you guys go out of your way to come up with such a crappy sound?

Sounds good. In our Leather Planet M 70, our sound known very clear sounding.
