10 YEARS OF NEVER RECORDS

Sieht aus wie eine Doppel-LP, und ich habe zunächst nicht gecheckt, was das soll – bis mir Ted Riederer erklärt hat, was das hier nicht ist: eine LP. Es ist nur das Cover einer LP, statt Platten gibt es zwei Booklets im Quadratformat, und es handelt sich um die Publikation zu einem Kunstprojekt, das Plattenläden als Orte des kulturellen Austauschs wertschätzen soll. Der Ort dazu liegt bzw. lag in Brooklyn, und auch wenn die Fotos und Texte hier einen Eindruck vermitteln, muss man wohl vor Ort dabei gewesen sein, um das Projekt vollumfänglich wertschätzen zu können. Wer es genau wissen will: die Website vermittelt einen sehr guten Eindruck, was es mit Never Records auf sich hat. Da steht dann einleitend: „Never Records is a combination recording studio and record shop, all operating in one building. The sole proprietor, interior decorator, and engineer is New York-based artist Ted Riederer. Inspired by his own redemptive education at a young age inside the walls of a local record store in Rockville, Maryland as well as the field recording projects of Alan Lomax, Riederer devised his unique community art installation in the early part of this century and has been replicating it with regional variations throughout the world since 2010.“ Spannendes Projekt!
